DIGITAL LASER PRINTING
We have both mono and colour digital laser printers. These machines are similar technology to your home ‘laser’ printer but are considerably larger and faster.
MONO
The huge advantage of digital printing is the speed and economy for producing short run single documents or short to medium run multi page documents.
The unit cost per copy is very similar be it for 1 copy or 1,000 copies. Depending on the size of job, there is a point at which it becomes more economical to offset litho print. Please ask for advice.
Stocks include uncoated papers from 80gsm to 250gsm in various grades and colours.
ARTWORK CONSIDERATIONS
Leave a margin of 8mm on all edges.
If including greyscale or tinted images, make sure the resolution is 300dpi and that photographs are bright and contain plenty of contrast. Do not expect photographs to reproduce as clearly as litho.
COLOUR
For short runs, colour digital printing is brilliant. It is now possible to produce eye catching quality literature once only available to large companies with huge budgets. Like mono printing, there is a point at which offset litho becomes more cost effective.
Although technology has improved incredibly over the past few years, colour digital is never going to quite match litho in quality, exact colour matches are not always possible. Colour lasers use CMYK, no spot colour option is available. Please be sure to convert RGB images and be aware of the limitations of CMYK. In 90% of cases this is not an issue.
Our standard colour copy paper is a very good quality smooth bright white sheet which is available in various weights from 80gsm through to 250gsm.
ARTWORK CONSIDERATIONS
If preparing artwork for A4 or A3 print out, a margin of 8mm on all edges is required.
It is often more economical to produce artwork 2 up or 4 up for an A3 sheet – please ask for details.
If bleed is required, we can print on to a larger (SRA) sheet and trim. This obviously incurs a small additional charge.
